单词量2w是一种怎么样的体验去年上考研

去年上考研班的时候，老师留作业写一篇作文，就是那个著名的辞职信（考过研的同学应该都知道）。题目如下：
Directions: Two months ago you got a job as an editor for the magazine Design \u0026amp; Fashion. But now you find that the work is not what you expected. You decide to quit. Write a letter to your boss, Mr. Wang, telling him your decision, and stating your reason(s).一般同学可能会按照模版来写，就是举个一二三，最后说抱歉啊希望您早点予以回复啊之类的。没错，这样写中规中矩，但怎么也能得个14+的分数。
可是我作为王尔德的忠实粉丝、资深哈迷、英美文学爱好者、托尔金的狂热读者，总觉得按模版生搬硬套的话太丢逼格。于是乎，为了彰显我的文采和posh，我交的作业是这样的：

It has been a great honor to serve you, and it will always be.Yours sincerely,Li Ming虽然所用词汇并不高大上，但行文够拽，大有一瓶不满半瓶乱咣当之嫌，英语一般的人读了可能会不明觉厉。
然而，这位考研老师，很显然我低估了他的英语水平。他首先揪出了几处语法错误和用词不当的地方。然后，然后，重点来了：
他竟然看出了我仿写王尔德的几句话，甚至连我仿写托尔金的地方都被他看出来了。下课的时候我们还聊了聊《冰与火之歌》里的一些剧情，真是恐怖啊。最后我问他如果考研这样写会得多少分，他说可能打不了高分甚至有可能打低分，因为这样的文章阅卷老师看了会很反感，还是写的正常点儿吧，比较保险一些。
然后我注意到他的桌子，上面放着一本陈用仪的《beyond the dictionary》，我拿起来一看，我擦，密密麻麻的全是笔记，边角都磨烂了。要知道这本书没点水平是啃不动的。
他的词汇量20000+，像我这么大的时候已经读了几十本名著了，而且他不是英语专业出身（好像是学机电的）。按他的话说，英语专业出身的人大多从事翻译，厉害一点的做同传了，不会沦落为当老师的。我于是又问他，做同传需要什么水平？他回答说，至少要比他高出两个档次吧。
